Corrandulla Post Office is on the move

Today marks the last day of Corrandulla Post Office residing in the Monaghan residence in Corrandulla where it has provided postal services for the community since 1919. Although the office is closing today it will make a short journey to its new home a few hundred meters further up the street to our local Spar shop. Many of us will have fond memories of the post office and Monaghans shop being part of our lives as we grew up.

The Monaghan families involvement in our post office service stretches back to 1898 when Mairead’s great great grand aunt was the post master. Mairead’s great grandfather was post master in 1919 when the office which was situated in Drumgriffin moved to Corrandulla village.

It is very much a day to remember Mairead’s father Tom and her mother Ann who was post master from 1966 up to 2007 when Mairead took up the position.

Wishing our Mairead and the wonderful Gabrielle a safe journey and a pleasant stay in your new residence.
